Abstract

Variables examined in this research is the type and number of heat absorbent layer or glass boundary problem. The assumption used in this research is flat plate solar collector, collector material is sand while collector system used is one, double, triple and quadruple glass purpose from this research is practically the emergence of design tools and prototype of distillation of sea water into fresh water that local raw materials and can be operated by the community. meanwhile, on the theoretical level, an understanding of the process and how the distillation of seawater equipment into clean water can be duplicated and disseminated to the community in need. The main equipment used in this study is a type of solar collector with a flat plate collector made of zinc, gravel and sand and has three variations of layers of glass (one layer, two layers and three layers). The distribution of the research results is the distillation temperature that is strongly influenced by the collector type and the number of glass layers, the number of glass layers more influential on the distribution of distillation room temperature when compared with the type of collector used, the collector performance. strongly influenced by the thermal properties of the material collector itself.
